30 October 2015

October 2015, you have largely been horrible. I learned, this morning, that my friend 'Chelle has lost her battle with cancer. Four deaths this month in my world, on top of two anniversaries of losses in the past has been way too much.

'Chelle particularly loved tree tunnels, rainbows and Kid Rock. The weather is far too dismal for rainbows, and Kid Rock doesn't appear to be in town, so I headed out to find a tree tunnel in her honour. Bless you 'Chelle; the only consolation is that you are no longer in pain. Thinking of your friends and family at this time. xx

So, October ... Pack your bags. You're leaving tomorrow, and I sincerely hope your neighbour November is much, much more kind.

And breathe! We have had no internet or landline for 8 hours. I can't say I was too bothered, apart from being unable to post my picture of the day. Can't say the same for my boy though - he is so happy it's back.

Anyway, the above picture was taken in the garden at The Lodge Café, where I had a great lunch with Fiona and Tracey today. Thank you, ladies, it was lovely. x

28 October 2015

I'm glad I took this shot earlier in the day, because Ted has been round and tidied up the garden this afternoon, and the leaf is no longer here.

25 October 2015

I really needed a brief blast of nature today.

Many thanks to T for the lift. x

24 October 2015

We had lunch at Mum's today, and she'd made one of her legendary chocolate cakes for dessert.

22 October 2015

The daughter and I went for eye tests today. We both need new specs (and I need reading glasses for the first time ever :-/ ) Cue at least an hour of trying on different frames before we both decided.

And now I'm worrying that what I chose is too 'different'.

21 October 2015

Most days I couldn't tell you what I was doing 15 years earlier, but today I can: I was meeting my boy for the first time. Happy Birthday to my favourite son. xxx

(The mahoosive bar of chocolate wasn't a gift, but a souvenir brought back from yesterday's GCSE Business Studies trip to Cadbury World. He wasn't about to let me photograph his whole face, so it was utilised as a prop.)

I'm rather late with today's shot. This was taken at this evening's practical session at Camera Club:

 Lou and sparkler.

19 October 2015

We have an in-house practical evening at Camera Club tomorrow evening, so I've been experimenting with things to take for people to photograph.

I think I'll take the ingredients for this kind of thing.

18 October 2015

I spent today at the local Autumn Festival where lots of people bring apples,
and end up taking home juice to make into cider.

Lots of lovely food and drink on offer, activities for the kids, live music, and Lenny's Lizards too.

17 October 2015

The fair's in town. Again. I had a very pleasant wander round it with Tracey this afternoon.

When I got home and looked at the shots, it was clear I had been in the mood for face photos today.

15 October 2015

Today I met up with a Flickr friend, and showed him some pretty bits of South Oxfordshire.
The light was particularly lovely this morning.
Many thanks for doing all the driving, Roy, and for your company. :)

14 October 2015

Today I had cause to avail myself of the wonderful NHS. Firstly, for a scan on my kidney (fingers crossed, it's looking okay). Secondly for a consultation with a doctor to get the diagnosis of acute torticollis for the absolute agony that is the right side of my neck for the last few days. I have drugs now. Drugs which make me feel like I'm floating in the clouds; so if you want me that's where I'll be until the weekend.

Many thanks to my personal chauffeur, Carol. x
Can't drive with my neck like this, and definitely can't drive with the floaty drugs either!

12 October 2015

A beautiful day for a wander round Letcombe Valley Nature Reserve.

Thanks for your company and the lift, Howard. :)

9 October 2015

After the shock and sadness of yesterday, it was perhaps appropriate that today in town,
people were standing up to cancer.

8 October 2015

8 October 2015

I have been in a quiet, introspective mood today, after hearing some very sad news this morning.

6 October 2015

Camera Club walkabout night ... so of course it rained.

Never mind; a few of us hardier souls still made it over to the Michaelmas Fair at Abingdon this evening.

I do love how talented some of my creative friends can be.
Today I received this print of a brilliant drawing of Georgie-cat, all the way from Canada.
It was drawn by my long-time bloggy friend Tracy from a photo I'd taken.

Thanks so much Tracy. x

Quick grab shot of one of the last roses of summer ...

(coming over the fence from next door!)

3 October 2015

3 October 2015

Three landscapes in three days - most unusual for me. Today I went to the BBOWT nature reserve at Letcombe with T and Bobby, a gorgeous pooch who is boarding at her place this weekend.

A lovely day for it.

2 October 2015

2 October 2015

When I woke up and saw the thick mist this morning,
I knew I wanted to head up to the woods to see how it was looking up there.

A huge difference from just a week ago.

1 October 2015

Another beautifully warm and sunny autumn day,
so I headed eastwards to the nearest bit of water for a reflection or two.
