31 August 2015

With apologies to those who hate these things. When I came downstairs this morning, I found this, this ... BEAST ... on the kitchen floor. Does it look dead? I assumed Georgie had killed it, and was very proud of her. I took this picture to celebrate her prowess. But 20 mins later, it was G-O-N-E. Where? How? Does that mean it was never dead? Is it on the loose in the house? I'm not an arachnophobe, but I hate these huge monsters that appear every September.

Oh and that's another thing - it's not even September yet. :(

So ... which muppet would go to the Carnival to represent their Camera Club, on the official stand, with no memory cards in either the camera, or the bag. The same muppet who now knows nowhere in town sells CF cards, that's who!

Thank goodness for the compact I always carry with me. Hopefully we've rounded up some new members for the Club.

I spent a lovely day with Din, Jac and T, in Burford.

The weather was largely kind, and the natives were largely friendly

The gift of flowers is also the gift of a happy hour or two photographing said flowers.
This is a bit of Lensbaby love on a lily.

Thanks to S&L for the fleurs.

26 August 2015

Today we had family visiting, including the lovely Posie.
She thinks Georgie's 'biscuit ball' is a wonderful thing!

Phew, I'm now all caught up with images - from tomorrow, back to one a day.

25 August 2015

Yesterday was very busy, but amongst other things, I started gathering together supplies to make felty gingerbread men.

I know it's only August, but the weather seems to think it's October. :-/

24 August 2015

Monday's shot was actually taken on Sunday. On Monday I did nothing but domestic stuff and start editing images from the weekend. This handsome boy is named Haughton and is the man of house in Devon, where I spent the weekend.

Thank you so much to T for doing all the driving at the weekend, and to F for having us, and being the hostess with the mostest. xx

23 August 2015

My picture for Sunday is a collage of three shots from inside the amazing Kents Cavern Prehistoric Caves where we went in the morning.

I wasn't at all sure about going 'in there' but our tour guide Ollie was both entertaining and informative; and I soon forgot about being worried.

Saturday's shot was taken at Slapton Sands - what a lovely place.

And yes, that's T's wide angle lens again!

21 August 2015

I'm back in sunny (!!) Oxfordshire after a few days in South Devon. This shot was taken on Friday evening, as we sat eating some yummy fish and chips, at Babbacombe Downs.

Thanks to T for the loan of her wide angle lens - I need to get me one of those.

A shot of one of the begonias in mum's garden tubs. These close ups of plants make it appear quite summery still,
but it's really quite chilly outside now. :(

I'm going AWOL for a few days, so will play catch up with the photos next week. Have a good weekend, folks. x

The Bay Tree Café this morning, where I had a lovely cuppa and catch up with Bee and Colleen.
Because Costa is closed for two weeks - how very dare it?

18 August 2015

This shot has quite a summery feel, but today I've been cold.

Autumn would appear to be arriving a tad early this year.

17 August 2015

At first I thought it was a bee called Pinocchio, but a quick poke around Google reveals it to be a 'Hornet Mimic Hoverfly' (Volucella Zonaria). The largest hoverfly we have in the UK.

Strange looking little chap, isn't he?

Spotted during a walkabout in Bampton with Tracey this morning.

Thanks for the lift, T x

Yesterday, exam results for my girl; and today formal enrolment for her course which starts in early September. She loves daisies, so I bought her some white asters (with yellow centres) as a gift.

Enrolment all done now, so she can relax for the next 3+ weeks.

13 August 2015

We were up early this morning to go and pick up 'A' Level results (Sixth Form was open from 7.30am). I'm very proud of my girl - she got everything she needed to go on to do her Foundation in Art & Design from September.

I saw happy faces, blank faces, and crying faces outside Sixth Form this morning. I really hope that each and every one of those kids goes on to have a wonderful life. It feels like it at the moment for them, but exam results aren't everything. Go and have happy and fulfilling lives. x

There is nothing special about this photo except the people in it. I met most of these ladies for the first time when our now-18 year olds were just babies. Today we had a get together, and it was so good to catch up. Some people are missing from this photo - Joy, Amanda and Lenore; and even in the picture, Tracy and Diane are hiding. Thanks for thinking of it, Pen, it was lovely. x

Good luck to all our 18 yr olds as they go off in different directions to start on the next phase of their lives.

Very pleased and proud to have been co-captain (along with Lou) of the Ladies team in tonight's first ever Battle of the Sexes competition at Camera Club. Each team had a pool of 40 images made up of contributions by club members. Every member who contributed had at least one of their images included, and nobody could contribute more than three shots.

The final score was Gents: 667 Ladies: 714.
Above are the 40 images from the ladies (not all were squares so in most cases these show a snippet of the respective image(s)).   Well done ladies, and especially to Finola, Din, Anna, Judith, Lou, Muriel, Suzie, Mags, Maria and Jac (and me!) who all scored 20's

10 August 2015

As I upload this (around 5pm) the sun has blue bits appearing, and the sun is beginning to shine; but the weather today has been decidedly 'meh' up until now.

This shot was taken just a couple of hours ago.

9 August 2015

We had a family gathering today to help Jim celebrate his 70th.

Thanks for having us, J&B, and Happy Birthday for Wednesday, Jim.

7 August 2015

Yesterday turned out to be somewhat 'testing'. Today, I need some peace and quiet, so climbed into my comfort zone photographically-speaking, and pointed the Lensbaby at a rose.

5 August 2015

I spent a lovely day with W, J and S. It's fair to say the cinema wasn't exactly packed out when we went to see
Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation.

It was much better than I expected it to be, and I was reminded how much I like going to the cinema.

4 August 2015

I've been nowhere today, and done nothing except domestic chores and sort out images for an upcoming Camera Club competition. So you've got a picture of one of the naughty cakes in the fridge.

Thanks T x
