This is one of the things I love about where I live. Local musicians, busking in the town centre to raise money for those affected by the earthquake in Nepal. And local people seemed very quick to put their hands in their pockets and transfer money to the donation bucket.

Kudos to all those involved.

Birthday flowers.

Thank you to the gifters of these beautiful blooms. xx

27 April 2015

My birthday. 21 again. And again. And a bit more. I am so grateful for the friends and family who have taken the time to write lovely birthday wishes in cards, emails, and on Facebook. Thank you for the wonderful gifts I've received too. And special thank yous to the ladies of the Back Row Gang, who, on hearing that I had nothing planned for this evening, made sure I had a fab evening in the pub, complete with cake (and singing!)

Thank you all, I appreciate it far more than you'll ever know. xxx

One of my favourite shots from today, when I was taking photos at the Race for Life event in town. I have so much respect for all those who either cycled, jogged or walked the route. (I am going to be sorting out photos for Ray until very late this evening!) These two little girls looked so cute as they turned the last corner coming up to the finish line.

Well done to everyone who biked/ran/walked the course today.

Happy Birthday Georgie (who got her name because she was born on St George's Day).

She's 10 today, and although you'd never guess from the face on her, she's a very happy cat.

Grape Hyacinths:  They are out in full force at the moment, aren't they?

Such pretty little flowers.

In his enthusiasm, Norman had wildly misinterpreted his friend Merv's suggestion that he take some shots of a cute chick.

17 April 2015

Despite it being a lovely day weather-wise, I just wasn't feeling the photography today.
I went out with a friend and a dog, and took very few photos.

But at least I got to discover a local nature reserve I hadn't previously visited, so will definitely be going back.
Thanks for driving, T x

15 April 2015

I've been lazy today and haven't gone out looking for a shot.  Instead I'm using this sunset from last night, which was the first of this year's Camera Club walkabouts.

As usual it was good fun.

Today I met Daniel.

As you can see, he wasn't at all sure about me.

Today, I enjoyed an afternoon of camera geekery with these guys, plus two others.

Thanks all, it was a very interesting few hours.

I poked my lens inside one of the stunning purple blooms on Lou and Mark's magnolia tree this afternoon.

A few of the shots I took this afternoon, when Tracey and I had a wander around the pretty village of Appleton. We spent ages in St Laurence's Church, where I was very taken with the handstitching on some of the pew cushions and kneelers.

Thanks for driving, T xx

8 April 2015

It's been a busy day of attempting to get lots of little things done. This afternoon, aware I hadn't yet got a photo for today, I called in at Court Hill and found this beautiful Peacock butterfly (plus others) on a plant in their courtyard.

I need to go back up there with the macro lens on my camera!

We've had more spring sunshine and warmth today, and the flowers are loving it as much as I am.

Norman is, but Danbo is less enthused.

When faced with a sky as flat and grey as your mood, head out and take a picture of old buildings.

Then turn the whole thing sepia to attempt to disguise the reality.

My broken 50mm has been sitting on the side since it broke. I finally threw it out today, but took a photo of the 'innards' beforehand.

I popped round to see Mrs O-J this morning, and knew she had blossom and possibly magnolia I could photograph in her garden.

The magnolia isn't quite out yet, so you've got the blossom today.

This evening will see the 18th anniversary of my first meeting with my beautiful and talented daughter. No doubt she will be horribly embarrassed by this collage, but hey - it's a parental perk to be able to embarrass one's kids.

Happy Birthday Sweetpea, I am so proud of you.
Love you lots xxx
